Sweet Gift Wrap

This weekend, I gave away a birthday present which had been wrapped in the shop. I found the paper wrap used quite plain and decided to jazz it up a bit with some crochet creations.

I first crocheted a long chain out of a variegated green yarn. I knew I would adorn it with flowers and/or butterflies, so I took my 100 Flowers To Knit And Crochet book out. But I didn't have much time and whatever designs I tried in DK cotton ended up bulky and not really matching the vision I had for the whole thing.

So I reached for my hardly ever used crochet thread, and my tiny 1.25mm crochet hook, and hooked up a couple of flowers, inspired by this lovely photo (pattern here).

Rather than weaving the crochet thread ends, I used them to attach the tiny flowers to the chain string, and voilà!

I was very pleased with the result. It turned out exactly as I wanted it to. So sweet and delicate. Just a lovely touch of colour on an otherwise plain packaging.

Have you ever used crochet to embellish gift wraps? It's something I have done a couple of times and have always enjoyed the result. Such a simple, but sweet and personal idea!

Thanks for reading, guys, take care! xx
